LEED STANDARDS – HOW WE’RE GREEN

Farmers Fishers Bakers has been designed to meet LEED Silver Certification standards as established through the U.S. Green Building Council, and will operate as a Green Restaurant, with pending certification by the Green Restaurant Association in keeping with The Farm’s commitment to sustainability.

In designing the restaurant, Griz Form Design Architects relied on salvaged wood, LED lighting, eco-friendly upholstery, and low-VOC materials. Recycled and reclaimed materials like used tire treads and reclaimed wood have been incorporated whenever possible to reduce the environmental impact of the building. The restrooms are outfitted with low flow toilets, motion sensor lighting, automatic faucets, and high efficiency Dyson hand dryers.

We are proud to say that our Founding Farmers flagship location opened as Washington DC's first LEED Gold Certified restaurant, and as the first upscale-casual, full-service LEED Gold restaurant in the country. Our restaurants operate as Certified Green Restaurants through the Green Restaurant Association, and annually we offset our greenhouse gas emissions with the purchase of offset credits through Carbonfund.org. Our Montgomery County, Md. location, is 100% wind powered.
