DC Beer Week, August 11-18

dcbw2013Get ready, folks — it’s almost DC Beer Week and we’ve got a lot planned! Mark your calendars and join us as we celebrate local craft beer with special events and tap takeovers all week long.

Troegs and Devils Backbone Collaboration Beer Release Party / Monday, August 12 from 5-7pm
Farmers Fishers Baker is kicking off DC Beer Week on Monday, August 12 with a great lineup of beers from local breweries Troegs and Devils Backbone. Collaboration beer Scratch #97, a black rye IPA made with peppercorns, three types of rye malt, and a healthy dose of hops, will be on tap all evening. Other beers on tap will include Troegenator Doublebock, DBB Eight Point IPA, Troegs Dreamweaver Wheat, DBB Baltic Porter, and more. Brewery reps will be on hand to answer any questions. Attendance is free, beer is pay-as-you-drink.

Inaugural Local Beer Debate Dinner / Tuesday, August 13 at 7pm
As the DMV’s craft brewing scene flourishes, so does the competition. On Tuesday, August 13, Farmers Fishers Bakers will host a five-course tasting dinner that will let the beer speak for itself. Each course will be paired with three tastings from each brewery — that’s five farm-inspired dishes from Executive Chef Joe Goetze and fifteen beers from three of the area’s best breweries. Devils Backbone Brewing (VA), Flying Dog Brewery (MD), and 3 Stars Brewing Company (DC) are bringing their A-game as they vie for the title of Local Beer Debate Dinner champion. Tickets are $74 per person, including tax, gratuity, and gift bag. Tickets available at ffbbeerdebatedinner.bpt.me.

Meet & Greet with Lancaster Brewing Company / Thursday, August 15 from 6-8pm
Join Farmers Fishers Bakers on Thursday, August 15 for a taste of some of Pennsylvania’s best craft beers from Lancaster Brewery Company. From 6-8pm on our outdoor patio (weather permitting), take advantage of the “Buy a Pint, Get a Pint Glass” promotion while sipping on Lancaster Brewery favorites including Fest Beer, Strawberry Wheat, the award-winning Kolsch, and several limited release, experimental brews. A brewery rep will also be on hand to provide tasting notes and answer questions.
