Shop, Eat, Drink, and Be Merry in Georgetown

Looking for a festive, local place to spend some time this holiday season? Look no further than one of our city’s oldest neighborhoods. Georgetown is a great destination during the Christmas and winter season.

Featuring some of the best Christmas spirit in town, DC’s beloved Georgetown has hundreds of shops and local markets decorated for the holidays for all to see. It even boasts beautiful Christmas lights on the canal, on boats, and on buildings.

Georgetown also has ice skating, and an inordinate amount of festive food, cocktails, live music, and fun for all during the holiday season.

At Christmas and throughout the winter season, Georgetown is one of the best places across the DMV region to shop, dine, and celebrate.

Farmers Fishers Bakers sits in the heart of this holiday shopping mecca. Overlooking the Washington Harbour ice skating rink on the beautiful banks of the Potomac River, Farmers Fishers Bakers loves the winter season and our team always finds great ways to celebrate the holidays. We are open every day throughout the season, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We have a selection of great cocktails, many featuring our very own Founding Spirits, along with our famous Fishers Tikis, our special take on the very best margarita, The Margarita 2019, and our craft beers chosen just for you. We also have share plates to be enjoyed by all, including sushi and pizza, and there is no question, our desserts (paired with our delicious cocktails and house-roasted coffee) are a great reason to stop in after some holiday shopping on Wisconsin and M Streets.

We invite you to come by before or after you take in some of the awesome holiday treats Georgetown has to offer. Here are a few of our favorite Georgetown Christmas and holiday season festivities:

  • Check out Washington Harbour Winterfest on Saturday, December 7th from 5-8pm. Enjoy a free performance by the Georgetown University Figure Skating Club, great music by a local DJ, and free giveaways.
  • Georgetown Glow. This annual Georgetown tradition, referred to as a “jaw-dropping exhibition of light art,” usually runs from December thru January. A remarkable display of outdoor light works, lights up the area with extraordinary light installations created by local and international artists.
  • All winter long, Farmers Fishers Bakers guests and staff enjoy ice skating just outside our front door at DC’s largest outdoor ice skating venue. The Washington Harbour Ice Rink is a must-do if you want to fully experience what makes Georgetown so special during the holiday season. Of course, our heated outdoor patio is our very favorite place to welcome guests and celebrate Christmas, New Year’s Day with our famous brunch, and everything about winter in DC. Stop in for a warm drink and a scratch-made meal before or after you hit the ice.
  • On weekend nightsenjoy a seasonally festive walk on the promenade of the banks of the Potomac and check out the Christmas lights, especially the holiday decorations and lights on the docked boats.

Take in all the wonder of Georgetown during Christmas. And stop by Farmers Fishers Bakers to warm up. We invite you to shop, eat, drink, and be merry this holiday season.
