Supporting Our Nation’s Family Farmers, One Truckload at a Time

Our Farmers Fishers Bakers team helped welcome our newest Farmers Restaurant Group family member to town today, our 18-wheeler food truck carrying food supplies direct from family farmers in North Dakota for use here in our restaurant and in our sibling restaurants, Farmers & Distillers and Founding Farmers.

Continually inspired by our nation’s family farmers and our farmer-owner partners at the North Dakota Farmers Union, we are committed to supporting their hard work and educating our guests on the importance of family farming.

Co-Owners Dan Simons and Mark Watne, president of the North Dakota Farmers Union, were also on hand, along with Roger Johnson from the National Farmers Union who shared that the farmer’s share of the food dollar has reached a staggering low, the likes of which have not been seen since the Great Depression.

We are working to change that, one truckload at a time. Today’s inaugural delivery included sugar for use in all of our restaurants and the wheat to be used to distill our in-house, award-winning Founding Spirits Vodka. This is one more step we are making to remove the middleman and bring more of the food dollar directly to our family farmers.

Our friends at Keany Produce & Gourmet will continue to help us distribute our family-farmed ingredients to all of our restaurants across the DC area and in Pennsylvania.
